THE RECEPTIONIST

by Adam Bock

Regional Premiere

Bob Boudreaux                  Terri Branda Carter                   Alan Heckner                          Krysti Wilson

A Dark Comedy with a Twilight Zone twist.....................

At the start of a typical day in the Northeast Office, Beverly deals effortlessly with ringing phones and her colleague's romantic troubles.  But the appearance of a charming rep from the Central Office disrupts the friendly routine.  And, as the true nature of the company's business becomes apparent, The Receptionist raises disquieting, provocative questions about the consequences of complicity with evil.  TLH is pleased to present the Regional Premiere of one of the theater's current hot playwrights - Adam Bock, winner of the 2007 Obie Award for his play, The Thugs.  This spring Playwrights Horizon presented the world's premiere of his latest play, The Drunken CityThe Receptionist received its world premiere at the Manhattan Theater Club in October, 2007.

"Mr. Bock's poisoned Post-it note of a play"                             New York Times

"Bock's intense initial focus on the routine goes to the heart of The Receptionist's pointed, painfully timely allegory...elliptical, provocative play..."                           Time Out New York

China: The Whole Enchilada

by Mark Brown

Musical Arrangements by Paul Mirkovich

Regional Premiere

One of the standout NYC International Fringe Festival's hits makes its Regional Premiere at TLH.  This hilarious new musical is three men singing, dancing, and irreverently marching their way through four thousand years of Chinese history.  The show dares to tackle racism, human rights, genocide, and the birth of the fortune cookie.  Who knew that Peking Man was a lounge singer?  Who knew one could cram Wang Chung, Connie Chung and Ricardo Montalban into the lyrics of a song?  Come hear and see much more in this outrageous new musical comedy...

"Done with exceptional wit, energy and comedy shtick."                             Time Out NY

"*****stars... Mark Brown's fabulous comedy parody is a laugh riot."      BACKSTAGE.com
